TERMINOLOGY
Register: Registering for Club Unite volleyball is a critical step that all players must take in order to participate. Club Unite is using CROSSBAR (new this year). The Crossbar registration process serves as the gateway into the club's sports management system, This player profile is used for the tryout process is only accessible to the club directors. Club Directors will pull pertinent information necessary for the tryout evaluators but do not share sensitive information.
Tryout: Consider this term more as an EVALUATION or ASSESSMENT. The goal is to ensure that each athlete is matched with the team that will challenge them appropriately, play to their strengths, and help them continue developing their skills in a supportive, constructive environment. It's a thorough, multi-faceted process that allows the club to assemble rosters where everyone can thrive. The on-court evaluation is the most important however the answers provided on the registration give the directors and evaluators a deeper understanding of the desired goals for the upcoming season.
Early Commitment: Athletes who commit early will receive a $100 deduction on their last installment. If paying in full athletes will deduct $100 from their total payment.
Gear Sizing: Athletes will try on gear items and fill out an athlete gear registration form that will be used to order their athlete gear package.
Roster Release: Rosters will be emailed on the date assigned.
Commitment: Athletes will commit to Club Unite via a Crossbar invitation (emailed) proclaiming their roster spot.
CLUB PRACTICE
Q: What is the Club Unite philosophy on practice attendance?
When each player embraces their role and values practice time as essential—not only for personal growth but for the team’s overall success—remarkable results follow. By building chemistry, sharpening communication, and developing individual skills, every practice becomes a vital investment in the team’s long-term performance and achievements.
Accountability: Coaching staff will track attendance and submit it to the directors to ensure accountability and commitment from every player.
Q: When do club practices start?
A: Club Season training will begin the 2nd week of November for all age groups. Teams do not practice through the Thanksgiving break and teams do not practice on Christmas
Q: When do club practices end?
A: Club Season training will end on the teams last tournament. Typically: local ends around April, premier ends late April early May, National ends May and potentially play post season in June.
Q: How many practices per week will the team have?
A: Teams practice 2x per week. (additionally National teams will incur extra practices from time to time meaning they may have 3 practices in one week, but this does not occur every week).
Q: Are there any times during the season players will not practice?
A: Club Unite observes the major holidays aligning with the school systems (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year, Spring Break, Easter).
Q: Which spring break does Club Unite observe and do teams practice over spring break?
A: Knoxville County for the Knoxville teams and Hamblen County for the Lakeway Area teams. Lakeway teams do not practice over Hamblen County practice. Knoxville teams "may" practice and or play one of the weekends over spring break.
CLUB TOURNAMENTS
Q: Where are the tournaments?
Teams will follow a set tournament schedule based on their roster placement. Local teams compete in events that do not require overnight hotel stays. Premier teams enjoy a balanced schedule, with a mix of nearby tournaments and select events that include hotel accommodations. National teams follow a fuller, more competitive schedule, with the majority of tournaments requiring travel and hotel stays.
Q: When do tournaments start?
A: Tournament schedules begin the first weekend of January, although not all teams may play that first weekend, that is when the competitive club season starts.
Q: How do athletes travel to tournaments?
A: It is the parent’s/ guardians responsibility to transport their athlete to tournaments or arrange for another parent or guardian to provide transportation
Q: Do athletes stay at the same hotel?
A: While athletes are not required to stay at the same hotel, many enjoy the camaraderie and team bonding that comes from being in the same facility whenever possible.
Q: Are there times during the season a specific hotel IS required?
A: Yes. For any tournament designated by the event owner as “Stay to Play,” athletes are required to stay in the assigned hotel as a condition for the team’s acceptance into the event. Club Unite will communicate to families which tournaments are stay to plays in advance.
Q: What days of the week do tournaments take place?
A: . Saturday and Sunday. Teams will typically either play in a morning wave on Saturday 8-2 or an afternoon wave Saturday 2-8 while Sunday is determined by Saturdays results.
HOTEL/TRAVEL Booking
Q: Who books hotels for tournaments?
A: Parents/guardians handle all hotel arrangements (other than stay to play).
Q: What is a "Stay to Play" tournament?
A: These tournaments require teams to stay at designated hotels. Club Unite will provide a reservation link via email, and all team members must book through it.
Q: What if we don’t follow the "Stay to Play" rules?
A: Not following the rules could result in team disqualification.
Q: What about tournaments without a housing requirement?
A: Parents can choose and book hotels freely for non-Stay-to-Play events.
